It's hard to believe amidst the craziness with the cold, we are under a new winter storm warning.

I took the dogs out for a bio break a little while ago. I could hear some cars sliding on the ice. It's an ominous thing to hear....

The Great Snow Capital of Texas. You all must now live up to expectations every year!

What a run Central Texas is on the past few years.

For you folks in south Louisiana, how is your water system hoding up? Water pressure? Here in Ville Platte Louisiana my water pressure is not much higher than my faucet trickle at this point. I should have done what wxman57 did and drained my pipes and shut off, but I'm elderly and disabled. I went with a steady low stream on all indoor and outdoor faucets. Nothing frozen yet.

0z HRRR looks a lot better for dfw. More qpf and much more of it is snow. North of i20 is almost entirely snow on this run up to hour 32

Can see light radar returns from Lake Travis across central and south Austin. Lake effect snow! Pretty amazing to see and never thought I'd see anything like that.

It's happened quite a lot the past day or so. Some folks in SE Texas were reporting it too and on visible you can see thin band of clouds off Lake Sam Rayburn and Livingston. It happened with the big Lakes north of DFW. It takes a significant temperature difference (something like 13C or greater is ideal) between air temp vs water temp in addition to some orographic help for lift.

I had light snow flurries and sunshine till about 2 pm

This last snow was insane. Check out the other pics, not just mine. I was up the entire night and saw the best snow I’ve ever seen. This is truly a once in a lifetime event. Seriously, can you imagine a full size truck half buried in snow?!?! I just hope we don’t have freezing rain next...

Looks pretty good. NWS seems to be going 3 - 6" for areas north of 30 and west of 75 based on grid point forecast.

On and off power, pipes frozen, deep snow I can barely walk through to haul buckets of water for livestock, single digit highs and now negative temps, more snow on the way...this isn’t fun anymore.

This is harming my yearbook deadlines, so I hope we warm up after. Kids got to get stuff done. It’s been nice...but too cold. Pray I don’t bust pipes and keep power since I’m only electric.

Can anyone add some insight into where the Tues/Wed storm is forming up and coming from?

Thanks for your time and thought.

The NAM starts as snow for I-20 and North and given this is trending colder than prior runs.

This is going to be something many will reference as the cold wave for this generation in Texas. I know it seems a bit dramatic but in the coming days the stories will only continue to be told by folks trying to survive.

San Angelo NWS says Abilene broke an all time record with 14.9 inches of snow. :double:

Now our water treatment plant is having electrical issues and water has been off about 3 hours now. Crazy times. :cold: :froze:

It is also Abilene's snowiest winter on record over 23". Just wow!

Like during hurricanes, unfortunately, there isn't much news or information from those without power and unable to post online. We will indeed be hearing more to come in the coming days. I have seen a lot of out there already with folks out of power and hunkered-down for the night as best as they can.

My dad up in Allen is having power off-and-on about every 30 minutes.
