David Letterman's girlfriend gave birth to a 9 lb 11 oz baby boy named Harry Joseph after David's late father. Congrats to the new family!

Yeah, I saw that this morning on the news. Did you hear what he said the first thing he did was?

Take the baby home and dangle it out of the window... (aka: Michael Jackson)

What's with all these older men having kids lately....Paul McCartney, David Letterman. Hopefully they will be around long enough for the kids to enjoy having a father.

I don't know blizzard. After mom's death when he was 44, dad didn't remarry until he was 50; my baby sis wasn't born until he was 51...but her birth seemed to bring back much of the life dad lost when mom died.

Today at age 70, dad seems younger and more full of life
than the years just after mom's death. Dad did have one huge advantage Letterman may not -- if anything had happened to him, he knew I'd have been there for Beth. Even today, she seems more like my daughter or niece than a baby sister.

Yeah, but McCartney's married to the mom of his child. Letterman isn't. Is he committed to stay around long enough to be a father, regardless of his health?

I think Dave is a stand up kind of guy. I think he'll stick or his Mamma will kill him. :)

My father turned 49, a month and a day after I was born; and I will be 27 in July.
