So far in East Dallas, about 1 inch of fresh wet snow and 4" of total snowcover including yesterday's sunmelt. Right now it's just changed over to rain (it's 20 degrees) so it looks like we're going to be getting a glaze of frosting on top of our 3-layer wintry precip cake.

well, got my power restored at 1:35 AM, after 48 hours. Got 30 º here and a frozen crust over everything. Too dark to really tell what I slept through.

Just absolutely beautiful here in my little corner of Dallas and yet it's so surreal that I can enjoy this amazing snowfall like a civilized Texan should, while so many are enduring a frozen hell tonight around us. It's like I'm living inside of a pretty little snowglobe surrounded by a world of chaos.

I looked back and looks like we started seeing signs of our pattern change around 1/23 (~pg115) for the next week inconsistent signs were there but had the heart of the cold being last week. By the last few days of Jan and early Feb we had a good idea on this though timing was last weekend. Besides ECMWF models had a really good handle on things by 2/8. Anyone (especially people in power) that says they had no idea this was coming is ignorant at best and at worst negligent. I know many in power rely on the ECMWF but that is their own bias, decisions have to be based on data from all reliable sources not just your favorite one.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if some new job opportunities for meteorologists came out of this? Anybody in energy who only watches the ECMWF clearly needs professional help!

Got up to see the snow falling, but it looks to have tapered off here in Dallas. Looks like maybe 1-2” imby.

52 hours and still no power here in NE Austin. We normally only lose power when someone digs up a line so this was unexpected. With the overnight ice storm more people have lost power. I have internet on phone for the moment I didn’t most of the time

Looking outside it is raining with foot long icicles on patio furniture. Not good at all. Sunrise will reveal more, ugh don't need this. Am I correct in that once it transition away from snow we are going to stay ice?

I've got right at 32 º on my front porch here in east Austin, still raining. It's dark; I *think* i see a bit of fog; does that mean we're at dewpoint?

Break any Icicles you find. They will cause damage when they fall unless removed.

Gorgeous winter scene at sunrise. Temp holding at 20 with a fresh inch or so. So pretty to look at but a deep concern for all without power and those getting hit with ice this morning. My brother in law and his family stayed with us overnight because they lost power at their house in Irving. Could be another night just have to wait and see. Enjoy the picturesque scene today!!!

Looks like the 3k NAM nailed it with the heaviest qpf being well south and east of DFW.

Even though my temp is showing 30 degrees, so far no freezing rain, just cold rain. (NW Houston)

Still some flurries in Irving in what appears to be snow needles. Miniscule snow sticks that I saw on my jacket when I took a walk earlier. I had never heard of snow needles until a couple days ago.

Still heavy sleet in Longview. It's mixed with tiny flurries. Glad it's not freezing rain.
