The footage between Little Rock and Memphis is insane. Arkansas is getting ripped right now with 2 to 3 inch per hour.

I called Relaint and they made it sound that if you have a month to month with any provider you could be getting a rather large bill perhaps, assuming you have power. Anyone else hear this? Is that even legal? I know month to month can fluctuate, but a 1000 KWh would be astronomical at that price.

It appears that in my case I'm under a yearly contract and locked in.

Just asking the group here.

While I can see them trying to do that with the price flux due to supply/demand, in the real world torches and pitchforks would be at their door from many Texans.

Well it’s happening. Looks like people are getting $5,000 electric bills. If use Griddy, or similar wholesale, look out! (even though they are tried to get customers to leave them to avoid this)

:shocked!:

Snowing at 1 to 2 inches per hour at for post 1.5 hours. Coming down as hard as any point Sunday night now. Could end up with 2 to 3 extra inches after being spared the ice this morning. We are gonna end up with right close to a foot of sleet and snow this week.

Update from my neck of the woods: Thankfully haven’t loss water or power. However that may change tonight. Bexar County and all counties west towards Del Río and Texas/Mexico border are under a Winter Storm Warning until 6PM tomorrow.. 2” of snow is expected for my part of the city, however I’m willing to bet it’ll be more. Everyone has said this was going to be a historic event, and boy were y’all right. I love snow, but I hate the BS that came with it this time. Definitely will turn my postgrad focus from Public Transportation to figuring out how cities in Texas can avoid some like this again.

Insane snow storm today in Texarkana. The worst(or best) that I've ever seen. 12" and still counting. That 12" is just from today's storm. We had another 6" on Monday.

Anyone catch Larry Cosgrove's mid-day facebook update

Says there could be a new arctic intrusion that favors frozen precip for N. Texas in the Feb 28-March 3 time frame.

Just gotta go through about an inch of snow tomorrow at most but highs in the 20s. Friday is when sun and 40s begin!

The staying power of this snow is amazing. It feels like we are at a mountain resort.

Latest HRRR has another round of snow from San Antonio points west. Many still without power/water and late this afternoon we also had a boil water notice issued for the city (as many areas are experiencing). HRRR has been trending wetter as new runs come in (not surprising since these systems tend to overperform what models show early on as they eject out of Mexico). Now up to 4 inches of snow in the western areas of the city/county. What a week! Ready for Spring.

So a DFW centric post.

This outbreak:

Broke an almost 6 year drought of winter storms, the longest since records began.
Broke a 25 year gap of single digit temps at DFW.
The coldest low in 72 years at DFW.
Challenged the 295 hours below freezing record from 1983.

If this outbreak had occurred in any of the for-mentioned years it would have been worse. The metro area has exploded in population since those years. The UHI would not have been as big as a factor.

I had -8 out here, shattering the record of coldest temp I’ve experienced since moving here over 11 years ago. Previous record was 6.

So why is the snowfall just supposed to stop before it reaches the coast? It’s like it shuts off just east of San antonio

This has been ridiculous. I keep waiting and waiting for the roads to slowly melt from the UHI and car friction but it's solid.

I don't know what the record is for snow depth duration but I think this has to take the crown. At least 120 hours or 5 days worth with snow depth by the end of Friday.

8.5" of snow Sunday night. 0.5" sleet and 3" snow today. 2" in January. Makes 14" for the year.
