Does look classifiable now as the circulation tightens up and deep convection becomes less linear and develops closer to the center.

Lots of 60 and 70 mph wind gusts here in the Pensacola area. One report of 81 mph at the airport. Confirmed Tornado on the ground North of Brewton...in Castleberry, came right over us here on the coast of Santa Rosa county and continued North. Knocked out power for a while and blew heavy gas grill about 100 ft6 into their shed at daughters house. 18 wheeler rolled over on escambia bay bridge as well.

Re: ATL: CLAUDETTE - Tropical Storm - Discussion
I certainly am mixed about Claudette being designated as a tropical cyclone. The impacts are that of a tropical storm, but impacts don’t make a cyclone. The center is elongated and ill-defined in my opinion. I also am not a big fan of designating tropical cyclones over land when it’s heading deep inland. I wonder if the possibility of regeneration over the Atlantic had any influence. Quite bizarre considering we had recon available the whole time and know it didn’t meet the definition of TS before landfall.

Interesting decision to name. Still doesn't look that tropical to me. I usually say give it the benefit and name it but not so sure in this case. Center is not tight at all.

NHC has this briefly regaining TS status off the East Coast. Will be interesting to see if that happens or not.
As for the naming, this is one of the *very* few that I don't really agree with and I think it should have remained PTC 3.
We're only in June and we've already got an interesting TCR to look forward to

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Wow! Aren't the bridges supposed to be closed once tropical storm force winds begin?

Airport and N 12th here. Some downed limbs and a tree broken in half in the 2 block dogs walk. Slept through it. Big feeder squall is close and has been putting off tornadoes.

Thunder is rumbling. I’ll try to get a video if the line is intense. This is my 3rd slept thru system from Florence 88, Voodoo Fest 18 and this one. I should go back to sleep but nah.

I slept through Florence too, except for getting up and looking out the window at one point during the wee hours and seeing the trees in front of my house blowing around like crazy.

Whatever Claudette might be, can't deny she certainly is windy!
