Glad this didn't have any more time than it did. Clearly sheared and not enough time before heading inland to really get going. Rainy and breezy but also a reminder (Isaias) that things can escalate quickly near shore. Still putting the marina back together here

This may be the only compliment this ever gets, but that is a flat-out gorgeous swirl.

Certainly a better swirl than Claudette.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Re: ATL: Tropical Depression Four - Discussion
Tropical Depression 04L is still over waters that allow for intensification of tropical cyclones. When it reaches the coast, the wetlands of Georgia and South Carolina might allow for further intensification, but that is definitely not something I would bet on happening. However, if all the stars align in its favor, it could become a weak tropical storm.

When the swirl passes, GA/SC residents may experience a period of calm, but do not be fooled. Within minutes, 10-15 MPH winds from the opposite direction will begin.

PHPBB needs to add a laugh reaction, instead of just a Like This button.

We don't even need to go that far back. Claudette did that.
EDIT: Actually, Claudette was already a tropical storm before landfall. But it continued to intensify over land.

Stop it! You're scaring the coastal residents.

Unexpected tropical depression is unexpected.
I doubt this gets to TS strength personally.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

I respectfully disagree. That squally rainstorm never did have a "well defined center" unless you call some indistinct nebulous region about 150 or more miles across a "well defined center" -- at least not until the "swirl" showed up when it was clearly on land.

Actually, and I know I'm getting OLD... but that looks better than Ana did when they named her! I am of a strong opinion this becomes Danny.

Lol, this reminds me of a storm a few years ago that made landfall in Wilmington and decoupled. They received about five inches in rain. It decoupled and moved over us. Turned out a beautiful partly cloudy day and you could observe the rotation.

If this reaches tropical status during the next two days, we will have three storms in June. That would probably be a record.

It will tie the official record with the 1886, 1909, 1936, & 1968 seasons with three June tropical storms. Of course, 1886 stands out with all 3 of the TC’s being Hurricanes, amazingly.
