If there’s any good news, that might disrupt the core, but the island is small and Elsa is moving fast so it won’t be over it for long.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

almost certainly ..

pulse down has begun ... 12 more hours pulse back up.. ( assuming environment remains conducive) eye begins to show up on visible as a wobbling dark spot.

fun fun..

Not for me. Lots of reports of blown off roofs. For a while (especially around 7:45 am), I thought I would lose mine too. Scary as heck, man!

How much warning did y'all have a hurricane would be bowling through?

Doubtful, La Soufrière peaks at 4,000ft above sea level, Pico Duarte peaks at above 10,000ft.

Not sure about a major, but my goodness, just the fact we have a hurricane on 7/2 in this area of the Atlantic is just amazing. Hope it isnt a precursor to the rest of the season.

Also due to its speed the core of Elsa will pass over the peaks in a matter of (tens of) minutes so I'm not sure there would even be enough time to significantly disrupt it.

ATL: ELSA - Hurricane - Discussion

I don't know if this means anything but there is a slightly perceptible coolness to the air here on Sanibel Island that bespeaks less than prime tropical potential...That of course doesn't mean the system won't bring its own tropical air mass with it...

Wouldn’t be surprised if NHC ups its conservative longer-term intensity forecasts … and with the future path likely to show a FL peninsula landfall … attitudes around here to shift quickly today. IOW, topping off the gas tank and doing other prep stuff just in case!

Wow it’s very rare for an advisory to be late.

Been a long time since I’ve seen that word but it’s very fitting as this seems to be intensifying faster than thought even by the experts

Hopefully the next recon will be able to give us a true Measurement of Elsa strength finger crossed, thinking might see an eye trying to pop out in the next 6 hour or so
