Rainstorm.. ahhhhhhhh yes but there are always 2 sides to every story and don't forget to read this paragraph in the article.
In 1999, Senate Republicans prevented Democratic appointees from gaining a majority on the D.C. Circuit when they blocked two highly-qualified nominees

One can always find a article or a viewpoint to support anything we want, both parties put spin on everything.:):):)

http://www.aflcio.org/issuespolitics/rogers_brown.cfm

Just because 2 nominees are fought against doesn';t make all dems and liberals or anyone else a racist:):)

I'm only going to state this once, so if anyone is interested in an old streetsoldier's opinion...

The greatest internal threat to our stability, security and prosperity is the "Balkanization" of our citizens. When we, the people ALL think of ourselves as AMERICANS...without a hyphenated preface to "classify" ourselves, the better off the "blessings of domestic weal" will become. :D

And, FIE upon those of either party who need to keep the artificial divisiveness alive for their own ends. :grrr:

That's my "post-9-11 Minute"...hope this causes us to stop, and think a little. :larrow:

Bill - you're exactly right. (Don't faint!!! :lol: ) We SHOULD BE past the point of judgements due to race and beliefs rather than on ability.

Al Sharpton is one of the most devisive people I have ever heard. As far as I'm concerned he only stands to inflame situations so that he has a reason to remain the center of attention.

Great post Bill! :-) What most overseas still don't understand is that while we may bicker among ourselves, when the chips are down, we all become Americans in the face of adversity. The folks in New York on 9-11 didn't think about color I can assure you!

No one really thought about color on 9-11...there was no point to the idea of race that day, it was heroic that all came together...I can assure you that NO ONE on Flight 93 was thinking about race that September morning...just my $ .02 ...........

democrats

#30 Postby sunnyday » Thu Nov 06, 2003 8:55 pm

I have a problem with generalizations, such as ALL Democrats or All Republicans. Each political party is made up of millions of people, most of them decent and law-abiding. When someone says ALL, it reflects incorrectly on many people. Any word that is all-inclusive, such as all, everybody, etc., is incorrect. There are always exceptions to such terms.

My thoughts exactly. There's really alot of "gray" out there. Generalizations tend to polarize people and causes alot of unnecessary heartache and bickering.

The Demcratic party has been running a snow job...

#36 Postby Big Dave » Mon Nov 10, 2003 11:19 am

...on minorities, the working class and the elderly.

I know and have had much discussion with all of the above. I am working class and a union member. I voted democrat for years, falling into the pro-labor, democrat trap. Then I started looking at the whole thing RATIONALLY and more importantly, MORALLY. And here is what I come up with.

If you vote democrat, you are voting for:

Socialization of our culture, i.e. communism;
killing unborn children for convenience;
homosexuality;
persecution of Christians for their beliefs;
and the promotion of the envronmentalist's Mother Earth, anti-capitalism philosophies.

These base things won't let me vote Democrat, period.

Eh? How can you vote FOR homosexuality? That's like voting FOR being brunette or voting FOR being a righty or FOR heterosexuality. Democrats tend to vote FOR gay rights, not FOR being gay. I've already said my two cents about my opposition to most of the gay rights agenda so I'm not going to repeat myself.

As for the persecution of Christians, it seems there are more vocal atheists who are Democrat and the ACLU is obviously liberal/democrat. But not all Dems are anti-Christianity.

The rest -- yup, I gotta agree with you for the most part. Not to generalize, but for the most part, Dems tend to be passionate about pro-choice issues and the environment.

One thing we seem to agree on with the Dems -- illegal immigration. I don't hear many from either side saying that our border security shouldn't be tightened. So, if we all agree, why isn't anything being done about it?

(Edit)
LOL, Johnathan! You and I both jumped on that one! :)

Socialism is not communism. Please guys- I've seen this misspoken before and the record should be set straight. They're two degrees of the same theroy- but so are the colors pink and red.

so·cial·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ssh-lzm)
n.
Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

com·mu·nism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kmy-nzm)
n.
A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.
Communism
A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.

And I'm not even GOING there about any of the rest of the points since they're laden with strong word choices.
