Bashing!

#1 Postby wx247 » Thu Nov 06, 2003 5:14 pm

Hi everyone. Over the last few weeks politics have definitely taken a front stage here at Storm2K. :) I love a good debate but I have to say that I am a little upset at some for some remarks that I don't find in good taste. We can disagree but can we not be insulting? Maybe I should have taken this up with the mods and maybe this will be deleted but I wanted to express my disheartenment with some of the comments that have been made. Both sides are guilty and if I have said something that insulted someone I am sorry. I just want to issue this plea:

If you want to *discuss* issues that is great, but let's not make posts specifically bashing people or their views.

I agree with your statement Garrett. We can debate the hot issues posting the positions in favor and against but let's do it not hurting the feelings of other people.

I agree 100%. There is good and bad in everything and just because we always can't agree on each others views. Lets just show some respect and treat each other like human beings. If you can't debate without bashing individuals ..Keep silent!!! Debate is a difference of Opinions and although we don't always agree..Disagree kindly. :) Lets just all get along :P Each of us is very passionate in their beliefs but that doesn't mean we need to attack each other. It's uncalled for and not what S2K is all about

Great post Rainband...your topic just got out of hand...let's all remember why we're here...from Marshall's topic on this very type of issue:

We have had several incidents lately where things have gotten out of hand. I want everyone to remember that we are here as an extended internet family. Most of us have migrated here to escape the flaming and trash that is happening on so many other boards. We will conduct ourselves in a respectful manner! This is on our opening page...

Our mission at STORM2K is to provide a friendly, family type environment for our members and guests to enjoy our common love of nature's weather in all her glory and power. Please join us and help make this an even better place!

Once again welcome!

STORM2K Admin, Staff and Members

Those who embrace this misson are welcome. Those who can't need to leave. I'm not being mean but that's the way it is. We allow debate on any topic here as long as it's done with respect. What I've seen lately is a lack of respect in a lot of posts. We all have strong feelings about certain subjects but if you can't debate a subject without emotions taking over then you need to leave it alone.

Every family fights but remember... we're family! Democrat, Republican, Gay, Straight, Pro-Choice, Pro-life, fisherman and golfer, Ladies and Real Women and yes even the Mods and Admins. Let's take a step back and remember why we're here!

Debate is healty.. If anyone ever sees anything the consider "bashing" or out of line, then they need to bring it to us privatly and we will handle it. Were all adults here.. We can handle this.. LOL I suggest that those who feel they dont like the debating, then they just stay out of the politial theads, because if there is one thing we debate hard around here.. Its politics

Can we help it we such shy people and afraid to voice our opinions LOL Passion about a subject is a wonderful gift. However the willingness to listen to someone else's point of view is how we grow. :-)

LOL, I know enough about my fiery temper to know that political debate is NOT for me!! That is why you rarely ever see my name in a political thread!! Good point Garrett, sometimes people say things they don't mean in the heat of the moment, as long as we can all acknowledge that it is just a debate and not a personal attack everyone should be fine!

Agreed...admittedly I am one of the more passionate when it comes to politics. I will re-double my efforts to use more tact in my post.

Agreed, politics gets people( me included) worked up alot:):). I find sometimes I have to step back and not answer a post right away so I can cool off:):) I try not to bash in my responses but sometimes more of that comes thru then I would like..:):) One thing though, I think its great that alot of us take interest in politics and express there views:):)

i have no idea what the fight or whats what about, but the one thing i can say about this forum is the ppl so far have been really nice. i have been on other forums where if u r not in the click and u get bashed they dont care. i know not alot of ppl know me here, but i think this is a good group of ppl. we all have different opinions and that is what makes up a good discussion. but nobody should be bashed for how they think. i love listening to different opinion, and i learn from them too. i may not be the smartest person concerning weather, but i am learning. and that's a good thing :D
