Nope......I "LOVE" the holidays too much. The ONLY time that I can remember ever being like that was when I was in the military, being overseas does tend to kinda get a person down.....that's why we need to do ALL we CAN for our men and women in Iraq this coming holiday season, take the time, contact the nearest military base, they have lists of those who are over there, take the time to make a care package for them.

You are a SHOPPER?! LOL, so am I!! I love those days as well!! I am hoping to be able to go to Chicago on one of those days- or any day this season, I have been going every holiday season for the past 4 or 5 years, and no where (that I know of) can you catch the spirit then in the crowds down on the Magnificent Mile!!
I'm hyped just thinking about it!!

Every year since I was a little guy...I remember getting my presents, thanking those who obtained them, and packing them up to my room, where I'd spend the rest of the day (at least, there, they wouldn't get "broken by accident" intentionally by persons who will remain nameless herein)...no dinner table recriminations, no hateful demands (and threats if I didn't) to clean up everyone else's messes...you get the idea.
To this day, the only manner in which I cope with the massive holiday celebration (for others) is to try to ignore it...as far as I'm able.

Well, let's see...Dad died on the day before Thanksgiving '73 (on his way home, his car slid on ice and snow in Nebraska and hit another car head-on), mom died the day before Valentine's Day '97 (emphysema). They were married on December 28 '61, three days after Christmas. His birthday was Jan. 1. Needless to say, the holidays were always really rough for my mom. Too many holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays all grouped together, without my dad.
My great-grandmother died on Christmas Eve '95.
I have my moments. But mostly it's just a short period of grief because I miss having them here to celebrate with. Not a true case of the blues and nothing that really lasts. I'll always miss them. But I can't dwell on grief. It's just not healthy and they wouldn't have wanted me to do that.
I joke that I'll probably die the day before St. Paddy's Day '76.

Holidays are going to be rough this year- it's the first holiday season since my would-have-been-mom-in-law died this summer (How do you like having your mom in laws death anniversary 8 days before your wedding anniversary and the day after your birthday. I am NOT looking forward to next summer.)
We're coping though. I'm not usually depressed during the holidays
I love winter and family and laughter and being around all the people I love.
