97 F near Dallas and 91 F near Austin on Monday, one can only say that Monday will unbearably hot for many Texans. The humid air will worsen the effects.

And these are below-average temperatures for East Texas...

The below-average temperatures are most likely associated with rain showers. It seems like the wet pattern may not stop in my area long-term for a while.

I've been in Galveston since late Monday Night and I've been surprised/happy at the lack of rain. It was literally moving out as I drove thru Houston at 10pm(nonstop lightning towards the coast) and very little since  today was beautiful and I'm tan now

Not lookng forward to the heat next week. I'll be back in Tulsa for the weekend :spam:

Looks like the oven will finally be switched to high mode soon: 97F forecasted on Saturday. 99F Sunday through Wednesday. We'll see how long it lasts.

Most likely temporarily. It looks like the ridge is gradually building towards the east coast. If this happens, things may not be good at peak season for the western Gulf.

Some models forecast an area of low pressure to move towards the Gulf Coast, which should be some relief to those in Texas; but it is too early to tell.

Have part of one eye looking that way, but more concerned with the predicted triple digits for the next few days. Feels like temps probably above 108f threshold here in Houston. :double:

We've all been spoiled by the relative cooler/wetter weather of recent weeks.

The last week of July and first two weeks of August are climatologically the hottest weeks of the year.

Was hoping for it not to actually come true though.lol
Ugh.

I’m seeing on the last few runs of the gfs that it wants to bring back the weakness over Texas by the end of the first week of august. This allows our rain chances to come back reduces our temps a little, but reaffirms to me that we will need to keep our eyes on the gulf when the Atlantic becomes favorable for TC activity around mid august.

My Weather Radio (Also a Ham Radio) is saying that the temperatures are going to be near 100 Friday (July 30th) & near 101 Saturday (July 31st).

I hope that the tropical system near Florida will come here to push back the Heat Dome . . .

The heat domes are strong this year (in the grand scheme) across North America. We couldn't escape it finally.

At least a week's worth of 100s to come.

Latest gfs is showing the return of some rain chances in about 8 days as the high moves west and puts us in NW flow. Hopefully this continues to show up in future runs

Should easily get there by Sat/Sun as >597dm heights hover over Oklahoma and NTX.

A similar strength ridge produced 110+ and 120+ mover the Pacific NW last month, similar ridge gets most of us around 100. Shows the difference surface feedback can create with drought. Just an interesting thought. But they are also in valleys with little wind, heat sinks.

Several models are now showing a cold front Next Monday, the Weather Radio has a 20% chance of storms Sunday . . .

There is a Heat Warning for Tulsa now . . . & I'm barely in the Heat Advisory . . .

I'm saying that Saturday has the chance, but Sunday has too much clouds . . .

Indeed they are! The models are trending towards the peak of the dome to be late this week. Then a break in the ridge and cooler anomalies for the first few days of August!
