Best Subscription For Weather Models
I'm thinking of upping my game and getting a subscription to get access to more weather models, details, etc. Looking for suggestions, I'm definitely just a weather hobbyist. Thanks!

Re: Best Subscrition For Weather Models
Well, I’d say go for weather models for 15$ a month I have it just for ASO. Got your Premium models like ECMWF, EPS, HRRR, NAM-WRF, ICON, CMC, GFS, GEFS, RGEM, NWS NDFD, UKMET and more.

I just let my weatherbell sub lapse. I've done this 3 years in a row now, and end up paying again by peak season.
Ryan Maue's weathermodels.com is ok, cheaper, and Ryan's maps are pretty darn good.
That's the only two pay sites I have experience with. I'm not endorsing either one.

Re: Best Subscription For Weather Models
I was subscribed to both Weatherbell.com and Weathermodels.com. These IMO are the best paid subscription sites. Last year I cut that down to Weathermodels.com. While both websites have a lot of similarities, there's also some significant differences. Here are the pros and cons:
Weatherbell.com PROS:
- Access to premium ECMWF maps.
- Access to Joe Bastardi's thoughts on NA/US weather all year long.
- Daily videos for users from Joe Bastardi.
- Team of pro-mets who give users access to their thoughts and opinions
- Weatherbell is good if you want the forecast given to you.
Weatherbell.com CONS:
I could be wrong here or some things might've changed as I've haven't been subscribed for over a year now.
- While you do get access to premium ECMWF maps, basic subscribers/personal forecasters do miss out on a lot of key parameters from ECMWF.
- The model maps are not easy to read and cipher compared to Tropical Tidbits and Weathermodels.com
- The model page GUI is also rough.
- Joe Bastardi's videos are great and he knows what he's talking about. However a lot of his videos contain too much rants about his opinions on global warming. On a daily basis, I'm not trying to spend half of a 15 minute video that's supposed to be about the tropics, talk about CO2 levels in the atmosphere. There's also too much Euro bias/ hugging. Mark Sudduth from Hurricanetrack.com does a much better job (no bias) laying it all out in his daily/weekly videos (for free).
- The entire Weatherbell team has limited ENSO and tropical atmospheric wave knowledge. Especially compared to guys like Eric Webb, Dr. Ventrice, Dr. Roundy, who offer considerably more and better information for free on Twitter.
- Weatherbell generally lacks in giving you the proper tools to make a personal forecast.
Weathermodels.com PROS:
- Access to almost every single ECMWF parameter at a reasonable price and without having to get an industrial account.
- Access to a very nice and easy to use GUI.
- Constantly improving the website and adding more features.
- Free blogs in regards to important weather/tropic events.
- Emphasis on maps for tropical atmospheric waves and their effects. As well as graphs for long range teleconnections.
- Emphasis on giving users the ability to make their own forecasts in pretty much anything weather related.
Weathermodels.com CONS:
- It's more of a DIY type experience. It's probably for the more technology inclined users.
- If you want the forecast given to you, this is not the subscription for you.
- So many parameters from many different models that you can easily get confused.
That being said, both websites cannot replace Tropicaltidbits.com. For example Tropicaltidbits has CMC and GPS parameters that those paid websites do not have.
Note: This is my sole opinion about both websites. No disrespect is meant toward anyone or any entity.
