July had 5 days of 100+ at DFW but ended up -1F below normal. Thinking <10 days of 100F this year is possible. In truth we haven't seen a true brutal Texas style summer since 2012.

Summers like 2011 and 2012 are rather uncommon though. They happen every so often, but it seems like many here think it's going to happen every year when it probably will not. I am thankful it's not. Those years were torture.

Yes, extreme torture, OKC got up to 113°F in August 2012.

Lol.

I assume now you’re doing pretty good with the increase in coverage, despite the decrease in intensity.

Yep we got some good rain last evening finally. It really poured this morning around 4. Got over an inch. Nice for August!

Most likely, the below average temperatures will be caused by above normal rainfall. I think we're going to have to watch the Gulf very closely later this month. Without the "death" ridge to protect us, the Gulf is more open.

The Gulf is boiling. Water temps in the mid to upper 80’s.

It's weird how we've been having a mostly cooler than normal summer, yet the Gulf is warmer than normal.

I got 2" yesterday morning, and another 0.2" later in the day in a couple of evening thunderstorms. 2.2" just yesterday. Not bad for the hottest, driest time of year! :)

The air sure felt good this morning. The dewpoint was much lower than it has been! I am all for 65 degrees for the high in mid-to-late October!

Not here. Dp is still in the mid 70’s. Also I picked up 2” last night.

Over the next three months, portions of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina are likely to be exposed to above-average levels of the chemical dihydrogen monoxide. People who live in the Northeast, Midwest, or South Florida will likely be exposed to below-average levels of dihydrogen monoxide. The west will likely be exposed to normal levels of dihydrogen monoxide.

Sounds like an enhanced tropical threat for the Gulf Coast if we are expecting so much rain.

People in Houston are likely to be exposed to very high levels of dihydrogen monoxide.

If you believe the CPC then the worst of summer is probably almost over for Texas. Looks like near normal temps for the next 10 days then back to below normal. Also, for most areas avg daily highs start trending downward by middle of August.

I had to water my hydrangeas yesterday. It's hard to believe it's so dry now after being so wet in May, June, and July. That's typical SE Texas weather though.

We’ve been getting plenty of rain down here this week. My job in Rosenberg has gotten over 6” in the past 4 days.
