However, on Wednesday many places saw 17-18c and today it was already 17.9c at 07z on the Isle of Skye! Admittedly temps haven't risen a great deal more since then, but temperatures of 17-19c are now widespread across the north of Scotland from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis to Kinloss on the east coast. It's a similar story in North Wales too.
Much of this is down to the foehn effect which can give some very high temps in these places during autumn, winter and spring.
Most of England is around 13-15c, though even this is a few degrees above average for November.
One other point of interest - similar conditions occurred during the first week of November 1946. That winter ended up the snowiest of the 20th century
