May see a bit more jog to the west as previously thought.
NYC looking to be more under the gun.

That ULL is undercutting the western inflow a little bit currently not forecast to stay that way for long unless the GFS is on to something.

Yes, the northeast as a whole is water-logged. Where it slows to a crawl will likely have flooding issues.

A lot of trees will be coming down when the winds hit pulling down power lines with them.
A lot of people will be in the dark for some time.
Generators are a necessity.

In terms of any type of PVS interaction - nada.
Clear sailing as it moves north.
Only on approach will the ULL provide some possible type of PV Streamer to try and knock Henri down a bit.
Need so see how this develops.
I think a lot of people may start to panic tomorrow afternoon when they see satellite views then.

Sandy took down a whole lot of trees in Long Island and widespread power outages… Henri is no Sandy, but this is a direct impact to Long Island. Winds will be stronger then we got from Sandy, advising my family in Nassau to prepare for power outages.

Today was quite possibly the last day this year I’ll go for a hike, because Henri is probably going to wreck all the places I visit. Several of my favorite locations either flood easily or have rivers that will likely flood from the 4-6 inches of rain I might get. The rest will probably get closed off due to fallen trees. Lots of elms aren’t doing so great this year and might be weak.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Henri developing a large and deep cold pocket below and slightly offset to the warm core.
This creates a large lapse rate fueling the development of convection.
With the upcoming high CAPE infeed, Henri will very likely crank tomorrow.
High end Cat 1, weak Cat 2 is not out of the realm of possibilities

The forum is dominated by people on the gulf coast and Florida so they don't really care lol. The people on americanwx care more about it so try there. The New England forums thread is the one that's most active though so check the Henri thread there.

Latest recon fix has it pretty much on current track.
Let's see if that jog to the east kicks in or not.

This is typical of the people on this site. They only care about Florida. Happens to us here in NC too the just drop off the site.

I think some of the lack of interest in Henri is because about a day or so ago most people thought it would go OTS. Will be lots of interest tomorrow and Sunday. On Henri, cirrus feathering is expanding indicating shear is lessening and an upper level anticyclone may be forming overtop the system. Personally think the storm is primed for significantly more strengthening than 85 mph forecast by NHC. Henri may be a hurricane at the 11 pm advisory.

Don't know how this got on the Grace thread, anyway.

Seeing TPW increasing over the south CONUS.
This is the majority of the fuel Henri is tapping into.

I have family in Long Island and I’m in South Florida and just lurking to see what happens with Henri.

Pretty pitiful looking storm at the moment, I imagine he will improve overnight.

Decent flight level winds of about 70 knots. Confirms at the least a 60 knot intensity.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

I feel the same way about my favorite beaches that face the LI Sound on the north fork. It’s going to get roughed up, and i worry about the towns in Gardiners and Peconic Bay with the surge. They regularly flood in Nor’easters. In addition to all the rain, we’ve had a lot of severe storms here that have damaged trees this summer. Busy prep day tomorrow.
