It really has to do with geography more than anything. In order for a storm in the BoC to have enough time to blow up to that strength, it would probably have to come into the bay from the northeast from the central GoM or over the tip of the Yucatan, which is meteorologically very improbable. Pretty much every storm in the BoC has to form close to the coast, or cross the Yucatan.

Something like Hurricane Anita but further south. Improbable but could definitely happen.

Like Super Hurricane Inez, 1966? A 929 mb storm SW of Puerto Rico, and 948 mb (135 mph) in Gulf at longitude 94.5.

Josh is teasing some very interesting ground readings from Hurricane Grace.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

nonstandard spelling of hot.
"he might be 40, but he's still extremely hawt"
Of course there was hurricane Esther and Henri made landfall next to the firefly.
In 33 he was Bethe.
I'm glad i'm not the only one that hears these things.
