Outflow boundary firing in the eye a few minutes ago. These loops from SLIDER, which has been having issues but still the best for some of these loops.

Was Nora supposed to go inland?

Pressure of 1mb and 1000kts just for the fun of it.

Wouldn't satellite data show this expansion as well?

Now that is one heck of a wind field and it's not going to get any smaller before landfall. Seriously concerned about NOLA

We’ll find out shortly, but still thinking we get something along the lines of 90-95kts and 972-968mb on this pass. That being said, in a matter of hours I suspect we’ll be seeing Ida’s true explosive intensification.

Well forget my prediction about a double max wind radius, because there’s clearly not one where I thought there would be.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Could it have expanded so much in such a short time yet be undetected by satellite?

Same. Gonna revise my guess down to 90-95 knots down from 100 kt. Very large wind field though.

By the time AF gets there I imagine we will have a very deepened storm

Maybe a slight WNW wobble past few frames. Comparing to the Katrina’s, Ida is a pretty compact storm with regards to hurricane force winds.
