That is a gorgeous shot. You can see the swirls within the eye. I just wish there wasn’t land in the same closeup shot.

All I’ve seen is the dropsonde data and they won’t upgrade based on that.

NOAA3 is also going in again. These hurricane hunters deserve a medal for flying these planes. I can't imagine experiencing 130 kt winds in a plane for like 5 passes and going "yeah, let's do one more".

Eyewall degrading somewhat on radar. Wouldn't be surprised if Ida maintained 130 knots all the way until landfall.

There's a reason landfalling Cat 5s are so rare. Its really, really hard to keep that machine running perfectly close to land.

Let's hope Ida can weaken as quickly as possible...I saw a live cam of the French quarter, and I saw people walking around the deserted streets.....why are they there?...makes no sense at all...

Hey I just drop word on the street an upgrade at this point would be for statistical purposes IMHO it's practically catastrophic either way

I'd agree. 147 FL + that drop gives me 135kt.
