Re: ATL: IDA - Hurricane - Discussion
Ida’s moving at 14 mph and is about 40 miles SE of Grand Isle. Looks like 2.5 - 3 hours to landfall at this rate.

Looks like it may wobble west and go up Terrebonne Bay. Grand Isle and Port Fourchon get the full brunt.

What’s the estimated winds at T6.5? I’m not super familiar with the estimated wind conversions at the higher T-numbers.

Re: ATL: IDA - Hurricane - Discussion
Eye definitely ragged now and western eyewall is looking weaker on radar. My guess is Ida maintains intensity through landfall. Of course the only difference between a Cat 4 and 5 at this point is a number. The impacts are the same

AF303 is about to head out. Hopefully they actually make it into the storm this time.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Thank you! So that also supports the existing intensity though it’s definitely secondary to direct measurements.

Re: ATL: IDA - Hurricane - Discussion
My prediction in the 'How intense will Hurricane Ida be at peak?' thread is looking eerily accurate:
"135 kt, 931 mbar with a lot of Storm2k discussion about flagged or uncertain measurements on the edge of cat 5 (similar to Iota)."

I'm only finding ones that you have to subscribe monthly with a fee. I understand expenses have to be covered but a monthly fee doesn't work for me.

Re: ATL: IDA - Hurricane - Discussion
Yeah definitely a secondary wind maximum/moat with that band moving onshore of Plaquemines Parish... too late to have much impact other than keeping IDA at its current intensity really as any EWRC would not have time to complete.
