I am only a tropical weather enthusiast. My predictions are not official and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Probably required to and I’d bet they are in a structure that will withstand whatever is happening just fine. I’m sure it’s still a scary experience.

Ida becomes the most intense landfall in Louisiana since historic records began in 1851. Equal in terms of wind speed to Laura and 1856 Last Island (=strength), but with a lower pressure of 930 mbar (=intensity).

Edit: Katrina actually made landfall with a lower pressure (920 mbar). So the second most intense landfall and tied in terms of wind speed.

Gut wrenching to hear the Police Chief in Grand Isle obviously fearful for the conditions there. I’m praying they are all safe in that bunker. Prayers.

RIP Severe Studios surge cam....you fought so bravely and provided us countless images as to why we never should try to ride out a storm like this

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Got to give the NHC major props. They were constantly warning of a Cat 4 landfall back when Ida was still in the Caribbean. They stuck by that statement.
