"Calm and sensible?!?!"

He just told the Weather Chan guy to "MAKE IT STOP."

The Chief didn't say, "make it stop," in the clip that I saw. If I heard that, obviously my post would have been different.

He actually did

No place to relocate.

i mean, there could of been a more sturdy structure on the block somewhere or heck lol stay in the eye and follow it up Highway one

Not sure that's true.

It looks like a concrete structure, and the windows are bullet-proof, so the wind won't get inside that way.

Hubs said IF the roof is poured concrete, it won't peel off. They are up on stilts, of course, so easily 10-12 feet up, maybe higher. I guess if I had to stay, I would think that would be the best building to be in.

There's a pretty remarkable report of 130 kt sustained on an oil rig. It would be an elevated report, but it's extremely unlikely this observation captured the maximum surface winds within the storm.

That report is 35 m above the surface, but appeared to be in the eyewall and very representative of a category 4 hurricane.

Source?

It’s one of these chasers… he was talking live with the readings. I can’t verify his credibility but that’s what he said.

They are now retracting the statement. It’s possibly true, but looking fishy which is a relief!

This is not true according to multiple sources on Facebook who monitor the rig.

Absolutely. Key consideration from that report is that it is almost virtually guaranteed to have missed the area of maximum winds due to undersampling. So the fact that it still reported 130 kt sustained is quite impressive.

If that Golden Meadow camera survives I expect the surge to start coming in after the eyewall passes. Brutal at the moment.
