Radar suggests it has slowed to about 8 mph.

Serious? That sounds like sharks swimming down the boulevard stuff. But they do travel in the summertime. So I guess it’s possible one could have gotten swept away in surge.

Katrina did NOT strengthen over the Everglades. It weakened into a tropical storm over Monroe County, and didn't regain hurricane status until it was over the Gulf.

Perhaps some of the ground stations in Louisiana can provide surface measurements of the eye and eyewall. Anyone have links to stations that are expected to go through the most extreme part of Ida?

We have ground reports, you want a dropsonde land on your head, lol.tallywx wrote:Hypercane_Kyle wrote:Actually wondering now if Ida has somehow gotten stronger over the LA marshes... radar presentation has definitely improved and what appear to be mesovorticies can be seen in the eyewall.
Too bad recon isn’t flying this over “land”

Without the outlines you can't even tell if the system has made landfall already

It held its own and Wilma certainly did. Western Broward got a coastal hit from a Cat 2.
