Re: ATL: IDA - Hurricane - Discussion
I have to say this is very rare to see at least one complete closed eyewall making landfall moving north, it usually opens up on the southern quadrant as dry air starts entraining into the system with the usual southerly shear. Katrina was a good example in which the southern eyewall opened up before making landfall despite the great satellite presentation it had.

Much appreciated!

It's not the wind, it's the water.
Yeah, it’s never the wind we worry about with Nola really. It’s the surge, flooding, and levees.

Believe it or not. the western most outer band of precipitation associated with IDA is now reaching extreme East Texas.

You have proof? With 134 mph wind gusts I really doubt it structures are intact.

Looking on the Radar loop from Lake Charles, I was thinking it's stopped and maybe started slowly drifting north a little earlier than forecast. But wobbles will fool you over a short time.

I'm looking at it on my phone and it looks like it has at least come to a crawl.

I am watching fox8 from NO and they mentioned the slowdown, lets see but a slowdown usually means a direction change, less nw in this case with more northerly, NO is in real danger of flash flooding the next 12 hourscheezyWXguy wrote:The center of ida appears to be stationary at this point. Is the westward progression ending early?

Sitting pretty in Mobile, aside from the coastal surge and occasional tornado warning, but then again we’re at the far eastern extent of TS winds. Not even certain that we’ve had TS gusts in Mobtown proper.
Many of us Coasties (I just made that up) are *quite* vested in what happens to our friends and neighbors because all of us know that it could be us.

Under 10 mph for now, a slower moving storm is not good for NO as the precip adds uptolakram wrote:moving north, for now

Yeah it's moving north now. Lockport about to get slammed by the inner eyewall.
