Josh Morgerman will not be happy if the eye stays to the east of him in Houma.

Gotta wonder what his thinking was compared to Raceland / Lockport. The NHC track had Houma slightly to the west of track and the storm has consistently shown a rightward bias.

Lockport appears to be the ground zero for eyewall impact. Aaron Rigsby is stationed there. Most chasers in Houma are probably going to miss the eye

Wonder if the eye will hold together long enough to get any ground-level stadium effect pics.

Don't think Ida was supposed to slow way down and turn more NNE this early - maybe motion is temporary.

Edit: Maybe illusion caused by eye changes.

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

Where do you get this information? The storm is going crazy still.

Reed and Josh are both going to miss her strongest winds by quite a piece.

They aren't going to be pleased.

It's a 12-mile drive from Houma to Raceland up 182. Obviously not suggesting it can be driven in these conditions, but it's not showing as closed.

Upper right camera at this link is supposed to be Grand Isle. It was mounted on a pole about 4 or 5 feet high. Now it looks to be laying on a street.

The hurricam shows the structures there all intact...I would guess you could assume that is the norm:

Those building codes on Grand Isle must be on a whole other level...

I wonder how Port Fourchon fared, though. That got much more of the actual eyewall. Probably got by far the worst winds. You won't see any of the locales further inland get hit quite as bad as Port Fourchon simply because of turbulence reducing wind speeds inland, even if Ida maintains her pressure as she marches northward.

Those homes are far far from being intact. They suffered severe damage. But yes the bulk of the structure is still in its place.

If you zoom in on a satellite map of Grand Isle on google maps, you'll notice miles of beach berms in the ocean near the beach shore. That may have the effect of lessening wave action and velocity of surge. That along with what you hope are top notch building codes and elevated structures and you hopefully avoid a Mexico Beach scenario.
