From Friday night. Not exactly a big win because the track spread was pretty tight but it did make landfall in Port Fourchon (Lafourche Parish).

Not super surprised that she structures survived grand isle. There always seems to be something standing even in the worst of storms. What’s Interesting to me is that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of surge over it right now. I can only figure it’s maybe related to the fact that there basically lower swamp ground past grabd isle so the swell of ocean water passed over and pushed further inland ? I thought it was flooded earlier. Wind is now a little more parallel to the island so that helps. The wind direction should not have driven it out yet though . So only place for it go is further into “lower” places “inland”

Where do you get this information? The storm is going crazy still.

The hurricam shows the structures there all intact...I would guess you could assume that is the norm:

You can't assume that, these few camps (homes) might of been built with New Miami Hurricane Building Guidelines, there are hundreds of buildings in Grand Isle and a majority of them weren't built that way. In a hurricane you never know which buildings will survive and which won't.

It looks as if Ida has three eyeballs right now.
Edit: Three eyewalls.

The eyewall replacement eyewall gave Des Allemands a good blasting...Check out the hurricam there...

If that’s important to you at this time then congrats I guess.

Looks headed NNE now. It is going to be a dark and stormy night in NOLA. Easy to find the eye

Most of the island was probably over washed but there is a 12 foot Berm about 2/3rds down the island that protects a few sturdy stilt homes. Kind of early to be getting information out of Grand island though, that cell tower has been on battery for hours now.

Watching radar it’s really looking like we are going to take at least some of the eye wall as it passes through the Northsjore. Power went out around 11:30am for about 30 min. Just lost it again about an hour ago. Not much sustained winds currently, but getting some nice gusts.

Plan is to wait until center moves past us a little bit before we start running the generator.

Looks like a lot of water moving into Des Allemands based on the webcam. I just looked on Google Maps, and there really isn't much of a berm along the bayou there.

Wow, the eye is really tightening up. Maybe it’ll make that Cat 5 run after all against all landfalling logic :P Seriously though, she looks incredible for being on land almost 5 hours.

Pretty good live feed from a couple guys in downtown N.O. right now, getting pretty hairy.

Hah, they just stopped to talk to Jim Cantore outside his hotel.
