I believe the best track had 929mb at one point.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

WOW!! Amazing footage. Scary stuff

Wow those waves are just unbelievable, and the wind sounds like a demon. I could only imagine a person in those conditions, scary to think that a person who is present there is basically a goner.

I'm pretty sure that video is from the big petro port just to the west of Grand Isle where Ida made landfall. Any thoughts on how high the winds were in that video?

Correct and that port is a pretty big deal in terms of how the country runs.

just based on some of the damages we are seeing this far inland along with some of the flight data (not the overwhelming data though), I would guess there is a case to be made for a Cat 5 upgrade after the season is over

In a discussion the Nhc noted that Ida bottomed out at 929mb before rising to 933mb.

"Landfall" in Southeast Louisiana being a relative thing. Like Katrina's 'landfall' in Florida, with the Everglades actually feeding the storm.

A potential track for forecast extreme rainfall in the coming days. Pay attention. As communities in Tennessee and Western NC know all too well from recent events in the past 2 weeks, inland flash flooding from extreme rainfall events can be sudden and deadly.

Preliminary reports suggest this could be the worst hit wind-wise for the city of New Orleans since Betsy. Especially the western suburbs are not having a good time right now.

This video is reportedly from Grand Isle. Retweeted by NBC News and Dr. Eric Blake, so seems like it could be verified.

Yep. Go fill up your tanks tomorrow. Gas is going to get real expensive. I think 15-20% of US refining capacity runs thru there

This is not so unusual after any storm really. It’s at least 1/4 covered at any time of the year because of the way the beach was built.

According to WWL TV in New Orleans things are getting bad
Rationing power from one turbine to keep the pumps going, hoping for street flooding to hold off.
Roof off at a Nursing home
Barges lose on the river
