Do you access every forum on Storm2K? Why or why not?

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Sat Nov 08, 2003 9:03 pm

I have noticed that a handful of members (even frequent posters) access every or nearly every forum.

I figured it would be interesting to know why you access certain forums and not the others.

Thank you in advance. :)

I don't like the Games forum, so I rarely ever visit it. All the others are good. I visit Off Topic and Tropics the most, and if those are dead, I'll make a stop in the Community forum and Winter forums.

I access most, the only ones I don't frequent are Tropics and Global, though I have been in both, I just like to concentrate on my surroundings, and no, that DOESN'T mean corn!

I browse around all the forums but the mains forums are Tropics (during the Tropical Atlantic Season) and the Weather Forums. During slower times, I'll branch out a little more, but I haven't been in the Games Forum in some time ... too busy...

As you all know, my interest in wx is limited to emergency services/SAR missions, so I don't feel qualified to browse the weather topic boards unless I feel my expertise may be required. I leave meteorology to the experts.

Therefore, I spend the vast majority of my time in Off-Topic, where a myriad choice of toipcs are available to me, and I can draw on my years training, life experiences, etc. to respond therein.

Sometimes, we disagree...but then, I hope that the vast majority of my posts prove helpful to someone out there. And, as a Moderator, I can count on the fingers of one hand those rare occasions when I felt intervention was necessary...I don't use my position lightly or capriciously.

LOL Bill, I am by NO means a meterologist, nor do I even know much, but I love listing local obs and such! It has been a learning experience for me...well, a slow one, but I'm getting there! :D

I just browse around to find anything that interest me.

The posts or stuff said are NOT an official forecast and my opinion alone. Please look to the NHC and NWS for official forecasts and products.

Model Runs Cheat Sheet:
GFS (5:30 AM/PM, 11:30 AM/PM)
HWRF, GFDL, UKMET, NAVGEM (6:30-8:00 AM/PM, 12:30-2:00 AM/PM)
ECMWF (1:45 AM/PM)
TCVN is a weighted averaged

Opinions my own.

I dont visit Tropics 98% of the time (I did post some updates on Isabel), because im a Kansan, being at 0 risk of a hurricane, yet alone any moisture. Nor do I see the World Weather, but almost every other forum I see.

I visit Off-Topic, USA Weather, Board News, Greetings, and Winter Weather the most. :) I rarely visit Sports and World Weather because those topics really don't interest me.

I access the Winter Forum, USA Weather Forum, Greetings & Stats Forum, Board News Forum, and Off-Topic forum...because I think those are the most important. I may go to other forums, like the game forum, like I did today. ;)

I don't post as much in Tropics now that things have died down a bit, but I still peek in there. I stopped posting in the Games and Greetings because I just couldn't keep up. :) I post sporadically in sports, although that will stop after college football season is over and then I might have to go back during March Madness if UK is strong this year. As for the others, I peek in and catch up on reading every once in a while. :)

Whats a Meteorologist? LOL
Just kidding, I know they study meteors.

I mainly stay in the off-topic simply because I know nothing about predicting weather. I know I love watching a good lightning storm and severe storms, but I like the atmosphere around here and the off-topic board offers alot of insight to the differences that we all possess.

Thank you Lyle, Jacki, Ashley, Mike, Bill, Jara, David, Joshua, Shawn, Colin and Blizzard. :)

Sometimes topics such as this don't sound "important," but in the long run they are really can be interesting to see what everyone's opinion is on the use of this great message board. :D

I access every forum, except for "Fun & Games." Lately, I have only been checking the latest activity in a few of the threads there and occassionally participate some. The most interested game I have been taking part in the most is "Hangman."

I make a real effort to read or scan all the threads in the forums to see if there is anything to respond to... without reading some posts in each thread you may be missing out on something worth responding to and even miss a question being asked of you or a comment that you would like to expand on for others to participate in.

I look forward to more thoughts on this issue. :D

David, I sure do understand you decision and understand that you are in your first year of high school. :D

I just think that if you [pl.] have the time (I understand most people don't with school, college and work), reading through as many posts and threads as possible would make things easier in the discussions you are following/taking part in. :)

Also, as LMolineux alluded to... it is a time consuming process. It isn't possible if you don't have the time to spend.

I don't use Sports section as Aussie sports are not commonly heard about in the US.

I also don't use the USA Weather section either as I liv in Australia.

I don't use Winter as i don't experience wintry conditions

I hit up the off topic several times a day during the week (and usually a couple of times on the weekend)

I check tropics once a day- if anything is brewing I check back, and I'm an active member over there when something happening but... nothing's happening LOL

I try to open winter weather once a day- sometimes I remember sometimes I don't... frankly it feels like fall here through most of the winter so it's depressing to read about snow

I like the US Weather- usually puts me in the know if anything major is going on outside of the tropics and there are enough Housotn posters that I can chat about severe weather.

I only ocassionally his Weather Attic and Global Weather... I'm just not very interested in either and don't ahve anything to contribute.

I liek to check out greetings and stats- I get to see new members and milestones- but I don't reply often. I check out Board News whenever soemthign new is posted... dont' want to be out of the loop.

BUT I generally skip Community, Sports, Help, and Games- checking them out every couple of days. I just never got into the threads on Community- I'm not a sports fan at all, I'm usually no help in the help forum, and I'm so busy in off topic tha tI rarely have time to post in games!
