Wow y'all. What an interesting system. Very dynamic with a mixture of dry and tropical air. It looking more like a Freeport area landfall and a very tight rainfall gradient. I may not be getting much more out of this. Forecasts for Houston and a lot of surrounding areas are going to bust...

I am actually at work in Quintana which is the island toward the coast next to Freeport. Work wind gauge is showing 40mph with gusts to 55 so far but it is also being blocked by a ship so it will not be as accurate.

I wouldn't speak so soon on that looks like areas in Jefferson County south of I-10 are going to see very heavy rainfall still

Did they miss that big band? Just seems weird how the FL winds are so much lower this pass. There's some SFMR close to 65kts but those can't be trusted in shallow water near the coast.

Center reforming NE again, this has been in the works for hours. The two other “centers” are dissipated now. New center moving NNE. Strengthening. I think we will see Hurricane Nick here soon.

Looks like it's started decoupling again within the last half hour, probably the current convective burst dying off. It remains to be seen if it can produce another and spin up just enough before landfall.

NW Houston isn't getting much of anything. It actually feels like a Fall cool front outside.

There's the FL winds I was expecting. They're just on the E side instead of NE. Almost a hurricane
