I just bought an old camera

#1 Postby coriolis » Sat Nov 08, 2003 3:37 pm

I got a Minolta SRT200 SLR from ebay. This is probably from the late 1970's and is totally manual. This was to replace my old one that fell and broke. I had an investment in lenses and accessories so needed another similar model. I took some great pictures with the old one, and am excited about getting this. Just hoping that I'll still be able to find film and developing in the future.

Wow, Ed! What year did you get your old camera? The late 1970's being about 24 to 27 years ago...
Also, did you get that old camera, new?

Tom, I got the old one 2nd hand about in 1985. (The same year as my "classic" bike. Don't get me started about THAT) It came with a Minolta f2.4 50mm lens, and I got a Vivitar Series 1 lens, 28-90mm zoom, (very clear) an assortment of filters, teleconverter, tripod, etc. I enjoy the effort of framing the picture, and selecting the settings and making a "mood." I never got a flash, but this one I'm getting has one! In today's digital age, I'm a dinosaur, but I still don't think that the digital cameras take as good of pictures. I need to get this scanner working.

Stormy, Isn't old stuff great! All the design and manufacturing that had to go into it is amazing. I'm still not convinced that digital music is as good as analog, but what are you going to do?

My next step, get my "classic" Pioneer stereo receiver repaired. There's a local shop that can do it.

I got all my toys before I got married. Good move, because with 4 kids, forget it!

Thanks, Ed. Interesting. Sounds like your old camera is a collector's item, being that old. :)
