Intensity lowered to 60kts at 06Z based on ASCAT (52kts) and SMAP (62kts) as per JTWC. Nonetheless, they're now expecting additional strengthening right over the Gulf of Oman and a typhoon-strength landfall.

A high-res microwave pass from 7z shows a good structure for future intensification. This looks to be a record-setting system in the Gulf of Oman.
The 6z HWRF brings this to Category 4 intensity just before landfall, which would be unprecedented for this area of the world.

Unfortunately most of the impacted coastline vis populated. The GFS is dropping 6-10" of rain at the landfall point, which would be disastrous for an area that does not even average that much rainfall in a whole year
