I was just starting to think that we would go through October without a single named storm forming. Wanda spoils it right at the end.
She could pull a surprise too.

Yep, she did. And I'm glad.

Now expected to transition
Despite being over sea surface temperatures below the ideal warmth
to support a classic tropical cyclone, the colder-than-typical upper
tropospheric temperatures over Wanda should continue to help support
deep convection for the next few days. Therefore, some slight
strengthening is possible during that time. As mentioned above, the
upper-trough is expected to leave Wanda behind by Monday, which
should allow the cyclone to complete a tropical transition by that
time. Various global model solutions within the Florida State
University cyclone phase evolution forecasts agree with this
scenario taking place over the next 24 h.

Could this end up retired due to he damage done in eastern Massachusetts

These storms are heat engines driven by warmer inflow at the surface condensing into cold cloud tops most of the condensing activity staying in the troposphere. Starting to get some moisture wrap for a central dense overcast this afternoon.

Wanda’s convection is slowly getting better, and has nearly fully wrapped around the core. Maybe it has a shot of becoming a hurricane. It could see a burst in convection overnight like it did when it got upgraded.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Of COURSE a fish STS would form right at the end of Oct. and ensure, should a Caribbean beast ever actually form this fall, it will have an auxiliary list name.
