The Greenland block is MIA on the GFS & there is no driving mechanism for this.

However, it's building & it's slowly moving for now. This is a step in the right direction if there should be a cold blast coming our way.

I don’t see it. I see a trough in an area close to where there needs to be a ridge. And the GEFS doesn’t really show that changing through 384 hours.

The PNA is too negative.

18Z GFS is almost saying "what cold front?" next weekend. Euro has temps down to the mid to upper 30s across the DFW area post-frontal. No winter weather in Texas. Big surprise... I'm just not seeing a change that will bring any really cold air south to Texas through December.

I think the alutian ridge' is too far west. We definitely need a west based -nao to help us moving forward. I feel that IF the mjo can make it to favorable phases, we will be better shape moving forward.

It is in the Favorable Phases, but it's moving rather slowly.

I was without power for 2 weeks, and I was one of the lucky ones. Some people were without power for over a month:

I’ll take as many 4 inch, 28° snow storm days as I can get. Let’s just not have any ice or widespread power grid failures this year. My winter obsession can wait if it means we don’t endanger lives.

Surge of cold air coming from the north, causing a rapid drop of Temperatures, & they could stay way below normal for several days.

Two things here: Over all La Nina ridging across the southern States not going away through the end of the year, and with NAO trending more negative over time along with a continuing -PNA ridging gets centered closer to TX. I'm sure wxman57 will appreciate this :D

It really isn't yet...it's borderline 6/7, for cold and precip you really need Phases 8-1-2 in Dec/Jan. Phase 7 usually is a little colder but fairly dry
