Our begonias are still alive and thriving. Normally they would've been long dead by now. 57's voodoo control over the weather is quite strong this year.

Yep I've seen some good blooms still. Since 2000 and especially since 2010 warm December's have greatly outnumbered cold ones with the 2 hottest ever since 2015. Doesn't matter el nino, la Nina, or neutral December is representing more and more a Fall month rather than winter.

The 10 warmest Decembers at Austin Camp Mabry:
1933
1970
1984
2012
2015
1954 & 1956
1921 & 1971
1957

Since 2000, the following Decembers have been cold (115 data-complete Decembers in climate record) :
2000 - 7th coldest all time
2009 - 10th coldest all time
2013 - 29th coldest all time
2005 - 43rd coldest all time
2011 - 44th coldest all time
2017 - 49th coldest all time
2004 - 53rd coldest all time

I'm bored at work so using wunderground.com, went back and checked the high temps on Christmas Day at Love Field. 2017 it was 46. But the beginning of the 2010's is where it was "fun". 2012 it 49 but temped dropped below freezing by 3pm. 2011, high was 49. 2010, high was 40 and same in 2009. Ah, the good ole days.

We are heading to Kansas for my family Christmas and are going up west of 35 to try something different since we hate that highway. Of course, heading right to a severe thunderstorm.

Unfortunately we have lost December to the Heat Miser, other than a few chilly days ahead it's over. The only hope we have is a 6 week window from mid January thru February if the Winter Gods see fit.

I'm already thinking that if we see late season cold fronts into late March and April that Severe Weather season is going to be very active especially for the southern states and the parts of the country that already had a rough December.

Funny how the damned GFS doesn’t flip flop when it’s predicting HEAT.

If it's going to be warm year round, at least let's be a tropical paradise like Florida.

Please, please let the 0z GFS be right for once. What a pattern shift noted at the 10-day mark if so.

Dramatic shift for January 1st or so. Hopefully this will become a trend. Not getting excited yet.

Thunder and rain in the middle of a December night.

I’ll take it! I hate drought conditions…

I'm absolutely positive that the GFS will be right about a pattern change beyond 10 days this time.
