What do you mean not exciting?

"not exciting" = no cold weather and no winter precip.

this just in...no changes...there will be no winter...sorry folks..maybe next year...they should just stop running models more than 5 days out. Its just a waste.Simple 5 day runs are all people need. Anything beyond that is just useless.

Listen to me, just don't listen to the 384hr GFS forecast.

If you’re hanging on precip and 2m temp depictions at 384 hours, you’re gonna have a bad time. The only thing that’s of even questionable use that far out is the 500mb pattern. There are a couple of general things I notice that are present from run to run - significantly building pressures near and south of Alaska, and trough dominating the pattern over the western US. The timing is fluctuating pretty substantially from run to run, and the progression of these features is too. But they are there and they are generally what we want to see.

What does this mean? At this point, nothing. The models have a long time to flop back and drop the pattern, or they could hold it. There’s a ton of inconsistency, but there’s a difference between what we are seeing run to run now vs seeing a dramatically different pattern each time. Keep your coarse-resolution lenses on until something gets within a week. Then we can start entertaining the idea of something actually happening if it’s still there.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

The cold refuses to move south. It stays locked up in western Canada. It wants to move south but the ridge over us is too strong. It’s preventing it from moving this way. Need that negative PNA to relax a bit.

It could be the Texas Ridge, similar to the Heat Dome of Doom.

It's almost like there's a wall along the northern U.S border that's stopping the cold, Arctic air from moving south to Texas...

Someone said something about building a wall, i don't know anything about weather jargon, maybe it's that wall.

Have a friend who lives in International Falls MN. Says he’s gonna get a group together to put some holes in the wall. He’s busy until after Christmas but that might trigger a chain reaction that could get us some relief in 2022. We’ll see!

All this talk about a pattern change and stuff..I just don't buy it. I don't see the cold coming down..except for the occasional cool front with highs in the 50s every other 2 weeks..it's just depressing

You have no chance of penetrating the wall. I have Viserion locked away so that his magical blue flames cannot be used.
