It seems we always remember the ice storms. I remember the one in Monroe Louisiana when I was a kid. Late 1970's. Was just showing my 6 year old the one in Austin in 2006.

Some sleet, followed by snow, is good. It keeps the snow around longer.

Part of me feels like SA might get spared. Another part of me feels like we’re about to get royally screwed. Currently sitting at 38°F with cold rain in Extreme Northern Bexar County.

Gotta stay out of the 20s. I'm at 38 degrees also.

Mesonet showing 29-30 getting very close to Tarrant. Should get rid of the stubborn 32-31 jumping around.

31 in Fannin county. Ice on power lines, cars, sidewalks, grass, trees and smoker.. roads maybe a little slick but still passable. I’m right in the middle of the county. We are supposed to get it really bad with the freezing rain. I haven’t posted in here in almost 10 years. But I always come to all of you for my winter weather needs!!! I had to create a new account but I was able to keep my old name somehow. What’s up WXman 57!!!!! Please use your voodoo heat powers to save us!!!!

42F IMBY Longview now.

The heavy rain caused temps to plummet. To me that's a sign that the warm nose is not very warm.

You must be right. I've dropped to 40F already. Pretty steady rain.

I don't expect to drop much more before the next push of cold air gets here but if temps fall another degree I will have a nice glaze before the event even really starts which will be after 4am.

Seems to have turned to a mix of frzg rain/sleet mix here, but mostly sleet. So glad since everything here has good coating of ice from frzg rain.

Ice is starting to form on my patio table in Richardson, looks like we've transitioned to freezing rain now.

I'm on the way back down and winds have picked up. Definitely something going on. Back below freezing 30F.

To those of you in the immediate metro thinking you’re just getting rain, I assure you you’re not. I’m in Dallas at the center of the heat island, and the cars at the top of the parking garage here (I.e. power line level) have a thick, solid glaze on them. That reinforcing cold better get here soon.

Seriously. I need to see some sleet before bed. Still nothing frozen here in Irving.

Took the dog for a walk. She was unamused by the cold cold rain. It’s freezing on the cars now. The street is still just wet. If it was sleeting earlier it isn’t now. Just freezing rain.

The tree in front is covered in a glaze that wasn’t there a few hours ago. Definitely still a sleet freezing rain mix, though luckily more sleet.

It was 67F here an hour ago, now down to 49F.

The rain bucket has .51" in it already from the first round of liquid precip.
