Yep I slept for a bit on the couch and a steady sleet is falling. Cars are covered and the ground is slowly getting frozen. Still warmer than I thought it would be at this hour.

Been a minute since I've heard a real sleet shower like what's going on now. 2013.

Hoping to hold my eyes opened long enough to see the changeover to sleet here in Rowlett.

That second wave is coming in from the Southwest now. NW of Stephenville radar is lit with some hot dBZ, either heavy sleet or quick transition to heavy snow down that way.

We are forecasted to get down to near 20 in a few hours. We have a ways to go for that to verify. Not much wind at all right now.

My Microsoft weather is showing 27 degrees now at the lake....brr! Been sleeting hard since right before 10pm, sounds like someone is constantly throwing rice on the house. Hope we hit snow soon, there are power outages less than a mile west and less than a half mile north of me. I lucked out. 400 plus customers affected.

It'll fall pretty quick once the next heavy precip band moves through. If short range guidance is any value we'll be falling through morning and then hold steady in the lower 20s if not keep falling throughout the day.

Just sleet now. The ice accumulated is epic. I can’t take pictures it’s to dark. I will try to post some in the morning. Tree limbs breaking everywhere sounds like distant gun fire. They did nothing for us here. They don’t even treat our roads. Only 82 gets treated. Fannin county is one of the poorest counties in Texas. I’m thankful for all of you. Because of y’all I knew about this days in advance and prepared. :froze:

Here we go. The transition to frozen precipitation is inching into Central Texas. The atmosphere in Central Texas is energized with thunder abound. Got to say I’m exited that we will have some daylight to document and witness this storm. No winter storm is alike down in Texas but the cold often arrives faster and colder than expected. This can hamper snow chances but it can also change cold rain to freezing rain or sleet sooner and that can have big implications on power outages and road conditions.

I think we got lucky here in Paris Texas, weather channel been showing freezing rain and snow all night on the radar, none of that was true. It has been steady rain and 33 degrees for the last hour. I am now hoping no freezing rain happens, with a transition to a couple of inches of snow after daylight. Not sure if anything but rain will happen though.

Still sleeting far N Dallas Collin County. Dog walk much easier in sleet than freezing rain. Dog still unamused.
