Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
HRRR has really come down on snow totals across DFW over the past few runs. Does setup a narrow band of 1-3 from Tarrant to far western Dallas County (probably where sleet will be heaviest to help cool remaining layer) with lighter amounts surrounding that, but a noticeable drop from a few runs prior. Icing event across SCTX from AUS to SA and across the HC beginning to increase now.

Still sleet in western Tarrant, radar depiction not very accurate
We had this issue yesterday in Oklahoma and the Falls with the warm nose being stubborn.
Very stubborn, cut way down on snow totals….really fine margin that’s practically impossible to model accurately

Freezing rain falling over Austin. Ice accumulating on power lines and tree branches. Long way to go…

Looking at txdot's icy roads reports
https://drivetexas.org/#/7/32.417/-96.650?future=false
And matched by Google Maps traffic, there appears to still be a pocket of warmth from Waco towards Hillsboro. The Baylor bear's warm nose?

Right after my good radar returns comment, it appears it may be drying out. It looks like that batch SW of DFW appears to be our last good energy before things relax precip-wise.
I hope I’m wrong.

Ugly storm system(s). We're freezing rain up here in Cincy and forecast to get 2 to 4 inches of snow later today and tonight. I don't believe it for a second as storms moving from the SW almost always give us rain or ice followed by flurries. We'll see. This ice really worries me.

We got thunder and rain overnight here in south Cedar Park. Now a mix of light freezing rain and sleet. Sleet covering ground in a slushy white. Looks like my area in south Cedar Park has a sleet mix. I'll take sleet over freezing rain any day! Sleet bounces off trees and power lines at least. I'll be glad when this stops.lol The freeze cloth on my Sagos turned to stale tortillas.

After midnight I bottomed out at 36F. Since then, it rose to 37F and now has fallen back to 36F.
Over 2" of rain.

Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
Freezing line has reached San Antonio. HRRR indicates precip gradually tapering off and ending across the D-FW area this morning and ending in San Antonio and Austin by early this afternoon. Note that some of those stations reporting snow may be automated. They may not easily differentiate between sleet and snow. However, it does appear as the deeper cold air has passed west of the D-FW area. I don't know if you'll get more than a dusting of snow up there in the D-FW area. Possibly a flurry in Austin before it ends. Can we have summer now?

Still can't get over the fact that we had thunderstorms overnight that caused flooding. These are current road closures across Bexar (not due to ice yet) but as a result of flooding. Now temps are 32 and dropping so you get the idea.
edit: now dealing with some power outages. 12k now without power across northern sections of SA

Can confirm the radar returns showing snow west of the metro are all sleet. Might not get to see any snow before this is over.

Power outages haven’t reached my part of SA yet. Freezing rain has been falling for the past 45 minutes. Getting to work is going to be interesting…

Just in the short time I posted SA went from 12 outages to 30k....ice definitely building on the lines across central and northern sections of the city with all the rain we had overnight and continue to receive.

Tulsa reporting 5.8 inches at the airport which after the sluggish start last night is impressive
