I think the precip was lighter than models were forecasting.

it's a skating rink everywhere, moderate sleet falling still, has not change over to snow in my area. maybe .25" of ice another 1" - 1.5" of sleet. either way it's nasty out, stay home folks.

Latest HRRR does show 1-3" across DFW as it changes the backside of precip over to snow.

Precip wasn’t lighter. In fact it was heavier than forecasted for San Antonio Austin and Dallas. I think dfw just had a ton of sleet which saved the power crisis.

Yep, lots of precip overnight. Looks like around 30,000 or so without power around North Texas so far. Very surprised it wasn't a lot worse with the wind.

That wouldn't surprise me. This is some of the heaviest snow I've ever witnessed in Texas. Huge fat flakes coming down

24 here in paris, light sleet mixed with snow flakes, looks like we may change over to very light snow in the next hour. I think we were lucky with the freezing rain, as the temp teetered between 32 and 33 overnight while the heavier precip was falling. My car does have a solid frozen coating on it, and I see and hear neighbors scraping the ice off of their windows and windshields.

It’s basically impossible to get an accurate measurement with all of the wind while it was snowing, but I’d say we got around 3-4” here just E of WF. If it wasn’t for the warm nose I feel like we’d have gotten what the 10” gfs was showing. The hours of sleet killed our snow totals. It appears the high will stay in the teens today.

Was speaking of the D-FW area mostly. I heard there was some heavy rainfall down your way. Perhaps that'll help the drought. I expected more sleet up in the D-FW area. Temps aloft were slow to drop. Should be changing over to snow up there before it ends by noon. Down to 40F on my front porch.

I will say that Oncor has been working really hard during the non-winter months to clear branches from power lines and the like. I did a quick walk around this morning and my 'hood looks pretty good so far.

No doubt, if there was no warm air aloft this could have been an epic snow fall from West Texas all the way through the East end of North Texas 8-10 inches or more.

Impossible to know what type of precipitation is falling by the reports from the weather channel and even the NWS. To say they have been lying for 10 hours here in Paris Tx. would be mean, but they have been giving false snow reports all night long. Still a light sleet falling, being reported as snow here.

You must be in West Frisco. On the far east side it is still mostly sleet with some snow grains mixed in.

Still sleet at the Lake-maybe the airport heat island is giving us our own warm nose.
