Totally understand, we all get a little antsy in North Texas when we look at the radar and Iceresistance and Brent are telling us that Oklahoma is getting pounded again. And while I can’t guarantee this won’t eventually bust south if the Red River, do keep in mind that the Winter Storm Warning runs through 6 p.m. on Thursday.
That’s tomorrow evening, meaning that there’s a long way to go. Kind of like yesterday when some posts got concerned around midday when the sun popped out and it warmed up a few degrees.
But now? It’s 20 degrees here in Denison and I’m beginning to suspect that 57’s “Great Wall of the Northern Border” has sprung a serious leak again!

Sitting at 30 here in Northern SA. Supposed to get to 36 today, that’s probably gonna be a bust. Is there a chance of Ice down here or will it just be cold for the week?

Wow, not something you see everyday. My Fox 4 WAPP radar has strong rotation in Oklahoma with a high Tornado potential just south of Chickasha......
What the heck is going on. I've seen strong rotation markers on these storms all morning.

I'm seeing precip popping up on radar just north of SA. Maybe some freezing rain? I'm not seeing anything here in Temple yet.

Temps still dropping in Tyler, down to 29 here with occasional moderate rain showers. The WWA should be expanded SE.

I think it is elevated rotation, as the cells get closer to the KTLX radar the rotation weakens and disappears as the beam gets lower in the atmosphere. (If I understand radar beam height correctly)

And there is the WWA SE expansion. Smith and Upshur have been added.

Are they also putting snow in the WSW for Fort Worth and Dallas? The WSW areas have mostly less sleet and about the same ice precip expectations as the WWA areas on the NWS FWD website

Someone needs to tell Syfy about this so they can turn it into a terrible movie.

We will try to get an image posted later. It was just a quick observation. But yes, Snownadoes do happen.

It will be hard for snow to form with precip starting in the air near 50 degrees above D-FW at 5000-6000 ft above the surface. The rain would fall into a sub-freezing layer and reach the ground as sleet or freezing rain.
