Lots of damage in Seminole on skycam. Looks like the cell is about to produce a big one

Yeah, east of Del Rio they can get Volkswagen sized hail. Last year some lady had a near record stone plunge through her roof.

Looks like that cell will go right over the airport and drop a quick 0.10 - 0.25"

Mesoscale Discussion 0650
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0736 PM CDT Wed May 04 2022

Areas affected...Southeastern Texas Panhandle into Northwest Texas

Concerning...Tornado Watch 177...

Valid 050036Z - 050200Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 177 continues.

SUMMARY...The greatest tornado potential will continue to exist in
Northwest Texas with a supercell moving east just south of Crowell,
TX. The downstream environment will remain favorable and low-level
winds may improve slightly as well.

DISCUSSION...A strong supercell continues east in Foard County, TX.
Tornadoes have been observed with this storm over the last 60-90
minutes. Low-level hodographs are not as enlarged as compared to the
east. However, with the unimpeded inflow of upper 70s F temperatures
and upper 60s F dewpoints, this storm is expected to maintain
intensity as of moves east. As this occurs, it will encounter at
least a modestly stronger low-level jet. Tornado and very-large hail
potential will continue with this storm.

Another supercell in the southeastern Panhandle continues to show a
strong reflectivity signature. Large/very-large hail will remain
possible. The tornado potential with this storm should diminish as
it will cross north of the warm front into more stable conditions.

Looks like some cells trying to fire down SW of DFW. Those would be the ones to watch, if something is going to threaten DFW. Per SPC mesoanalysis, the atmosphere is pretty primed from DFW northward, wouldn't be surprised to see the tornado watch expanded.

I’ve always been fascinated by right-turning storms and how they can just make their own way.

Is the HRRR garbage as this point?

What's the trends now?

Overnight early moring MCS blowing through DFW or do we need to keep our guard up for a few more hours?

Airport reported 0.20" but the storm did fade quickly after that.

I don't know but the 00z HRRR throws a split for DFW with heavier rains north and south and nothing for DFW lol

It seems like that storm hasn't moved all evening. Going to be some big rain totals.

Velocity on that storm near Vernon yikes. The warm front starting at the triple point and through I-40 east of OKC has been a highway for cells to train over.

Big debris ball on the TX storm definitely looks like the strongest tornado of the day so far
