Yeah. I am thinking top 5 hottest, but probably not a new record. Even in the short-range, models have been too aggressive on temperatures. I am thinking likely highs peaking around 110, but probably not 115+. A record that far back is not likely to break and 1936 was really unique because it was at the peak of the Dust Bowl. This year is dry, but it's not 1936 dry.

Yeah I don't see it verifying either and that's why... 1936 was such an unusual time. But it'll still be by far the worst heat here since 2011/2012

That doesn't make it feel much better . At the beginning of the month I didn't think DFW would come close to 1980's July 92F average record but here we are almost 91F.

Oh it's plenty enough hot as it is believe me  :spam:

Also another point some mets have brought it up here... The fact that it's still early for this here our climo and records are actually worse in August... And that's when 1936 peaked too. Basically no optimism of a pattern change anytime soon

Had to drive to Decatur this morning. It’s amazing how green everything is down this way compared to the dead and brown in and around WF. If only these random here and there pop of showers could ever make it a little further north..

I really don't want a repeat of the drought that started in 2011. Those were horrible times! I remember walking under the state park pier at Arrowhead and the waterline was still extremely far away.

105°F with a slight chance for storms tomorrow. This is looking very ugly. 109°F on KFOR and 111°F for TWC (Really?) on Next Tuesday.

You’d be better off going back to Alabama for some consistent decent weather instead of this bipolar feast or famine bs.

I know mom keeps talking about rain and it's not even that hot there compared to us :spam: of course they had like 5 snowflakes in the winter so there's that  see they missed our winter fun the last couple years over there

I'm actually trying to remember if I ever saw a temp over 110(like the forecast here Tuesday) in Dallas. I don't think I did

There was a day in 2018 when dfw hit 110 or 111, though I don’t know if your area hit that

Mid July 2018 had an intense heatwave. DFW was 109F for two days in a row after 108 two days prior. Dallas and Fort Worth proper hit 112 and 111 respectively so most were in that 110 range. Once you are above 105 it all feels the same like an oven.

We lost so many trees in this area too. My aunt lives on a cove at arrowhead and I remember the whole cove being dry.

The Nina may strengthen through Fall. Trades have cut back the warmth we've gained. It'll rain again as the continent cools in the coming months, seasonal variability but likely the overall monthly deficits will continue.

Yep, I'm afraid we'll remain in a drier than normal pattern through the upcoming winter. El Nino looks likely to return by late next year, and this is when we should turn wetter. It can't get here soon enough.

Late next year?! So possibly another (next) spring and summer of La Niña?

Too early to tell right now. But it likely will continue through the upcoming winter. I would expect La Nina to quickly weaken next spring.

1:30 and 106. I guess this is the start of hell’s oven for a few days. :18:

2:40 We rose to 109 but dropped back down to a chilly 107.

The good news for you Oklahoma folks is the models are backing off 110+ for Oklahoma sort of, the bad news is the trend for ntx to 110+ is going up.

Last sentence in the Tulsa AFD really says it all even they are done :spam: they would rather deal with potential severe and flooding than this

October cannot get here fast enough!
