That’s beautiful! Now that needs to happen over southeast Texas lol unfortunately for us our rain chances don’t look nearly as good.

I'm seeing Twitter being, uh, flooded with pics of Sam Hyde Sharks swimming down freeways all over the metroplex. Very original.

We can't buy a drop of rain here in the SA area either. Not even 1" recorded since June 1st.

Everything looks sheared out south of Waco/Temple anyway and the system collectively seems to be dragging east toward LA already. I think our chances are getting slim, but you guys will prob catch the eastward moving tail.

Just saw a graphic that the area around east Dallas has now had a 200-year flood event from this.

Crazy. The same graphic says my area is around 2 years, but neighbors are showing photos of the usually tiny creek on the other side of the neighborhood. Have never seen it this high. It takes a lot to get it high.

Not everyone in the metro is getting a ton of rain though. It's been centered over the I-30 and I-20 counties and south. Denton county has seen ~1" patches and much of Collin up to an inch, ~2 inch on the border with Dallas county. Earlier this year the case was reversed. Really northern half Dallas and Tarrant were the jackpots.

How much has fallen in 24 hours? TexMesoNet has 9 inches for DFW International

Yeah, folks up north got the shaft this time, but the level of drought was much worse over the core of the metro, so it was needed.

9.02" as of noon. Not as heavy as earlier but there's a batch coming through, we'll see if it makes the record.

I've had 3.4" in Ponder. I had recorded about 12" for the year prior to today.

I had only 11 inches for the year before today, so crazy to get most of that in one day.

Fort Worth photog Brian Luenser says he has never seen the Trinity River this swollen.

Just terrible whats going on up in the DFW area. Please stay safe.

Starting to see expanding development in the Hill Country. That's what will be moving into the Austin area later. We really don't need the kind of rainfall rates that DFW is experiencing. Let's get some decent rain just not destructive flooding.

FWIW year to date average rainfall to 8/22 is 23.77". We are currently 26.18", we have gone above normal for the year at the airport by +2.41". Every drought ends in a flood meaning has never been more true. Literally in less than 24 hours.

Daily lowest max for 8/22 is 80F, high so far today is 75F.
