Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Good chance this was a depression since yesterday evening and probably a tropical storm already since afternoon.

Not sure about a center relocation yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it does try to relocate it under the convection at some point though.

Re: ATL: FIONA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
The updraft core from the surface circ looks like it is tilted south to the convection now?
Not exactly ideal ventilation but shear could be weakening if the earlier forecast was wrong.
NHC wouldn't have upgraded if forecast shear was going to blow the tops off.
Recon will be in there tomorrow and we will know more then.

I can just sniff the "All Star" memes coming if Fiona defies expectations and blows up into a major hurricane

Yea recon tomorrow gonna be very interesting, it seems to be outperforming all models in the midst of moderate shear (even had the half the circulation exposed earlier today).

Went out for a bit and came back to a 50 mph storm. Not bad at all though Fiona will probably be messy for the next several days like Earl.
