If it threads the needle or just barely clips the SW end of PR like it seems to be trying to do rn (looking at radar) that’s still not out of the realm of possibility. Reminds me of Dorian and Isaias a bit.

One thing I do have to wonder is if the angle it's approaching with respect to some of those islands' tall mountains could actually help its core buckle together rather than disrupt it; different storms do different things, but it's not unheard of for storms to actually be improved via mountainous land interaction thanks to the friction. Also I think it's quite evident that we have some proto-eye forming there; that doesn't look to be a dry slot imho

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

No power and lots of flooding and it’s going to persist for atleast a day while Fiona passes through the channel

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

It's amazing how fast even a Cat 1 storm can knock the power out.

There's no place for the water to go. I don't think the winds knock out all of the power, my bet is torrential flooding is knocking a lot out as well.

Is it just me, or it looks like Fiona is taking a slight W jog on the 1-minute visible floater?

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Looks like another one is getting ready to head out.

EDIT: Is an upper-level mission. Next low-level mission departs at 2145z.

You would think being US territory more funds could be thrown their way to upgrade the power grid, but guess not. The Texas grid isn't much better in extreme events either and no funds to be seen.

Hearing most, if not all, of Puerto Rico is without power per the governor.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
