Sydney might get the worst of Fiona. Prince Edward Island needs to look out too.

Does Sydney get the Les Suêtes winds that I know the headlands experience? If so at least the structures there will have a chance.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

That was a very quick extratropical transition. From a fully warm core category 4 hurricane to fully extratropical in what...12 hours? Less than that?

No, that's Western Cape Breton in Grand Etang.
Sydney is on the opposite end.

Winds starting to pick up at Sable island 37 MPH almost tropical storm strength.
Very exposed island will likely see some gusts close to 60 MPH.

That was expected due to the intense trough and the warm seclusion.

Re: ATL: FIONA - Hurricane - Discussion
The models absolutely nailed this. Many were skeptical that such a low pressure could occur or such a strong storm could occur off Canada, yet the synoptic setup and the above-normal oceans worked in harmony this time. The stage had been set all week.
