One thing is for sure, Fiona is getting the
when it's all said and done. Won't be seeing you in 2028!

Power hasn't flickered yet. But in Nova Scotia there is a large outage near Amherst just 15 minutes away, so I think I'll be losing power within the next 1 to 2 hours.
EDIT: I also noticed that Sable Island seems to have stopped sending wind readings around the time when the center got closer.

The 910s mb forecasted by the HWRF didn't come to fruition.
I don't think Josh M is too excited about experiencing only TS force winds so far.
It quickly decoupled as soon as it hit SSTs in the 60s.

Now officially post-tropical. Advisories will continue as long as warnings are up.

Temps there in the 50s, that's clearly the extra tropical effects starting to kick in.

Finnally Fiona is not tropical after the catastrastofic flooding in PR that have left 4 people dead. I hope this name is retired.

The strongest winds appear to be south of the center - a powerful sting jet has developed. I think the 90 kt intensity is probably too low right now for that reason. I wish Recon would sample it a bit more, it could have 100 kt winds associated with it.

I'd correct the intensity upward after sampling the sting jet. I'd say the real intensity right now is 100 or 105 kt.

Yeah I think the backside combined with the very fast motion will make the strongest winds later.
Can't believe this was moving 8 mph just two days ago!

A Mesonet station measured a gust of 106 mph in Antigonish County (northeastern mainland Nova Scotia). I wouldn't be surprised to see gusts to 130 mph if that sting jet survives.

Re: ATL: FIONA - Post-Tropical - Discussion
The lowest pressure so far is 950 mb in Guysborough as landfall is about an hour away. There are no stations south of there along the immediate coast. Winds are also gusting as high as 76 mph at McNab's Island, which is in Halifax Harbour.
If you see a very high wind reading out of Wreckhouse or Grand Etang, it is due to local terrain effects and unrepresentative of the storm's intensity. Wreckhouse winds tend to be much higher (as are Les Suetes winds) due to downsloping in funnels.

The wind seems way higher in Sackville now then 100kmh predicted...maybe more like sustained around 80 gusting to 120-130 but I could be wrong. I don't even know how the powers still on right now.

The airport nearby is gusting to about 70 mph, so that isn't unreasonable.

It looks like Lower Whitehead will be the landfall point. Guysborough, to the northwest, is now at 941 mb.
