Inner eyewall is basically gone now, coincides with the disappearance of the last cloud-free region in the eye on satellite.

I saw my first tornado in NoVA when the remnants of Ivan came through. VA was off the hook for twisters that day. It was an ef2 as well… my jaw hit the ground when the power flashes lit the entire funnel up 1/4 mile in front of me. So crazy

During Irma it was endless. I was trying to figure out how to turn off the warnings coming in on my phone every 5 minutes. Just ended up turning it off so I could sleep. We slept in our safe room, stuck a mattress in a big walk in closet.

Huge Arc of -80C cloud tops over the western eyewall.

First time in 16 hurricanes I heard and saw the Fists of God. Heard and saw them again in Michael. They are what destroy one tree but not another. One house but not the one next door. You have to see and feel them live to understand. Only in big big storms.

Cuomo on CNN was in his plush hotel room in Naples and I was with Marley the 3-legged dog down in the street when the eye passed over.

He (on live TV) tried to lecture me a bit from his perch above me. Asked me if my legal survival knife was big enough. It’s out there on You Tube somewhere but I made it clear I wasn’t too interested in being on camera. I just wanted to see downtown Naples before the opposite winds came.

It’s going to get very interesting very soon.

Chuck

I'm in Hudson (North of Tampa), I remember reading your live updates of your trip down for Irma. Good stuff.

Based on the Key West radar it seems that Ian's eye may have possibly jogged a bit to the east again, but I'm not really sure. There are also a ton of tornadoes popping up. I really hope everyone in the area will be alright.

What is the general consensus for the time tomorrow that Ian will make landfall? Thanks

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

If Ian continues at 10mph and went into Cape Coral. Landfall would not be until afternoon tomorrow and that is as the crow flies.

Good evening from south Marion county. After a warm day we have a very noticeable strong cool breeze this evening. Feels like watching a hurricane in the fall - strange.

Not expecting much strengthening from Recon's upcoming mission but I do expect it to intensify overnight now that the EWRC is near completion.
