It’s amazing to me (and I’m incredibly grateful) that this monster is literally straight across the state from us right now and all we have is grey sky and some occasional wind gusts.

I pray for all of those in his path.

Got an appointment right as landfall is occurring. Whether Ian is a Cat 5 or not is inconsequential as the storm surge is going to be the worst part. Terrible for those living there…

Can't believe cam 5 is still up. This has got to be the very inner edge of the EW. Hopefully it lasts until the eye passes over.

A real somewhat funny story - My middle son is named Ian. He’s 11 and very into meteorology like I am. Has his own weather station. He was incredibly thrilled to have this storm as his namesake until a day ago when it hit him the amount of people will be harmed. Also - his 12th birthday is Saturday and he realized he may have unknowingly wished himself a birthday with no power.

Sounds like what happens when you give your children an I name.

Welp, I guess there’s only a matter of time until “Isaac” is retired. I got my eyes on 2024

Edit: Would be more ironic if it hit Galveston :/

You cannot simply convert from instantaneous winds at 9000 feet to sustained winds at surface level.

I believe a NE movement (wobble) has commenced

There we have it. Landfall. I know NHC says NNE but I think that last movement there had a more NE movement to it. A wobble from land interaction maybe?

Reed's live feed went down, but I believe he has been heard from since.

Looks like more pressure reading errors from the plane.
