This is all so devastating.
We own a place in Orlando because my son goes to UCF. My son is finishing his senior year online while in California but his friend and another young man are renting the rooms. I haven’t heard if they came back home here to Destin or stayed. I hope they left just to be on the safe side.

NBC News Now (free streaming service) has a woman calling in from Ft Myers (possibly Ft Myers Beach) who got stuck there when her flight was cancelled on Tuesday. Caller is reporting parking structure collapses near her.

I make my living reviewing Florida Building Codes and the Product Approval system all exterior building products need to be accepted for use in Florida.
I am very confident that todays code compliant structures residential & commercial will not be destroyed in the worst that a hurricane can bring outside of storm surge. Roof damage? Sure. But not to the point where it compromises the integrity of the whole structure.
Mobile homes excluded!

Have them call 911 - they will be put on a list and when it's safe for responders - they will prioritize by need.

When I read that post I had just finished watching Tropical Tidbits (Levi Cowan). Think I'll
stick with Levi.

can we expect the rainfield to expand again as the storm begins to weaken and collapse
looks pretty dry to the east of the storm, we are still getting nailed in Orlando but to the south of us, no rain...very interesting

Yes, there is a northern component, it's heading towards Orlando.
Orlando Ice?....
Yes, towards Orlando. Also including Walt Disney and Universal, it's a beautiful place. I was there just 5 months ago!
I was there just two weeks ago. It was my wife and kids first tine ever. Ages 5 and 7. My kids hope Mickey Mouse and his friends will be ok.

Don't hold me accountable for anything I post on this forum. Leave the real forecasting up to the professionals.

The entire eastern circulation has been bone dry all day aside from a couple skeleton thin “feeder” bands. Not what you would expect on the what is usually the “dirty” side of a well developed hurricane.

been raining and windy here in Orlando (Northeast of the storm all day)..but it looks like just 20 miles south of us all the way down to S. Florida, basically dry for the last few hours
