looks pretty dry to the east of the storm, we are still getting nailed in Orlando but to the south of us, no rain...very interesting

Not for this storm. Dry air is wrapping around and filling in on the east side. If this was a more conventional hurricane the east side would have been very, very wet.

I am very confident that todays code compliant structures residential & commercial will not be destroyed in the worst that a hurricane can bring outside of storm surge. Roof damage? Sure. But not to the point where it compromises the integrity of the whole structure.

Mobile homes excluded!

Very long term lurker, but a construction lawyer here. The judicious use of straps and bolts save houses. $500 to save $500K. Construction science is real. Now if only I could get local codes officials in TN to take that to heart.

Well the east side has been largely dry excluding a feeder band train yesterday evening and through the night that dropped a few tors and pumped up rain totals for those in its narrow path. Well before dry air. So it’s just a bit strange to
me. NOT a complaint! I’ve got a hair over 6” between yesterday and today as I was in that train last night. Many have next to nothing.

The entire eastern circulation has been bone dry all day aside from a couple skeleton thin “feeder” bands. Not what you would expect on the what is usually the “dirty” side of a well developed hurricane.

been raining and windy here in Orlando (Northeast of the storm all day)..but it looks like just 20 miles south of us all the way down to S. Florida, basically dry for the last few hours

Are you guys going to be ok in Orlando? Just found out from my son the other boys didn’t leave our place we own in Orlando. I’m worried about them.

Cams that survived the initial eyewall are cutting out as the western eyewall comes through.

Just as recon indicated this morning, the western eyewall is more intense than the eastern side. Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte are getting smacked.

yeah unless you get unlucky with a tree falling on your roof or in a flood plain, it will be scary but everyone will turn out fine

He's still producing Lightning in the eyewall! I've counted more lightning strikes in the eyewall than an average Oklahoma Supercell in April/May.

An old Tampa folkore myth is the original indians put a protection blessing on the land to not be struck by a hurricane. Perhaps this is true and why the Tampa area has escaped again?
